For a lot of adolescents who consider snow and snowflakes manna from heaven, becoming a ski instructor is a dream job many would aspire for and be envious of.  While this kind of winter work jobs are seasonal, various resort companies all over the world are always looking for qualified and competent ski instructors to hire. Hence, for people who have a great liking for the snow sport, it is but important to learn about the skills required to become a certified ski instructor.

Being an accomplished skier will definitely be an advantage if you want to pursue a skiing instruction career but more than that, ski resort owners look for those who have the ability to teach ski students and beginners who need improvement on their skiing skills. Granted, there are a lot of skiers out there who command uncanny ski skills, those who can swirl and get out of tight snow slopes without breaking any tendon; but there are only a few who can pass on this ski knowledge to others effectively without groping for ski instruction terms.

Only a few actually have the patience, personality, and communication skills to convince the ski beginners that they can do it and how! This basically is what separates effective ski instructing from a quick and speedy one.

For those who seriously want to get a crack on a ski instructing post, the following are pieces of advice that you may want to consider prior to saying “I do!”

First off, brush up on your skiing skills. To impart a great deal of skiing instruction to your would-be students, you must be a proficient skier yourself. If you think your ski skills are not good enough or even mediocre to anchor your ski instruction then, by all means, take skiing refresher lessons. By the time that you’ve got the cool skiing moves to impress the authorities concerned, get a certification from accredited snow sports bodies and agencies. The three areas that you need to be certified in are Adaptive, Alpine, and Nordic; to increase your chances of securing the ski instructing position, though, you may need to get a certification in all the three areas concerned. These ski instruction certifications usually require written or physical tests that you need to pass to get the certification.

Lastly, after getting the certifications up your sleeves, it is now time to find a job on skiing instruction. The richest source would be from the classified advertisements on newspapers, online want ads, listings from the Internet and other possible publications available all throughout the country.
